Selecting Assemblies with Ctrl + Left Click

Selecting Assemblies with Ctrl + Left Click

Starting with IRONCAD 2023, a new option has been added that allows users to select assemblies using Ctrl + Left Click.
In versions prior to IRONCAD 2022, the behavior is equivalent to having this setting disabled.

This setting is applicable when the assembly is configured with [Treat as part] under [Assembly Properties] → [General] → [Assembly Expansion in BOM].

Changing the Setting

To enable or disable this setting, follow the steps below:
[1] Open [Options], select [Mouse] in the [Interaction] expand menu.

[2] Check [Ctrl left-click select "Treat as part" assembly] to enable the feature.
Uncheck it to disable.

When “Select Assembly with Ctrl + Left Click” is enabled:

Pressing Ctrl + Left Click will select the assembly, if the assembly is set to [Do not explode] in its properties.

When “Select Assembly with Ctrl + Left Click” is disabled:

Pressing Ctrl + Left Click will select individual parts instead of the assembly.

This feature is useful in the following cases:
When working with downloaded assemblies composed of multiple parts.
When you need to configure properties at the assembly level.
Notes
To use IRONCAD with the same behavior as in previous versions, disable the setting by unchecking [Select Assembly with Ctrl + Left Click].
By default, this option is enabled.
