Split the face (solid/surface)

This section explains how to split specific faces of a solid or surface using arbitrary 3D curves.
Use the [Split Faces] command located in the [Features] tab.

There are four types of face splitting methods:

  1. Projection
    Projects a sketch, edge, or 3D curve onto a face/surface to split it.

  2. Silhouette    
    Splits the face of a cylindrical or similar part using a silhouette outline, based on the direction of a reference plane or face.
  1. Split by body
    Uses a second part/body to perform the split. Similar to the [Split Part] command, you select two parts/bodies and apply the split operation.
  1. Curves on the surface
    Splits a face/surface using curves that lie directly on it.

To use a 3D curve for face splitting, set the geometry type to Feature in the selection options.
