This section provides solutions when error messages appear while using commands that rely on 2D profiles, such as [Extrude] or [Spin], and the modeling process cannot proceed normally.
You may encounter the following error messages after executing commands like [Extrude] or [Spin]:
Factors:
- The profile is not a closed shape
- There are lines overlapping the cross-sectional shapes.
Cross-sectional shape is not closed
In the Scene Browser, right-click the profile under the feature (e.g., under [Extrude]) and select [Edit] to examine the shape.
If the profile contains red dots (unconnected points) or pink dashed lines, as shown below, this indicates open or unconnected geometry.
Solution:
Use drag operations, [Extention], or [Trim] to close the shape.
Enable the option “Auto fill color closed curve during 2D sketch mode” to visually confirm whether the shape is closed.
Overlapping Geometry in the Profile
If the profile contains overlapping or duplicate lines, it may appear closed but will still cause errors.
Right-click the profile in the Scene Browser and select [Edit].
You may see pink dashed lines or other visual signs of overlapping geometry. These can be difficult to distinguish when overlapping lines are stacked.
This part is an overlapping (unconnected) shape.
Solution:
Delete overlapping shapes manually.
Alternatively, use the [Remove Duplicates] function to automatically detect and delete overlapping lines.
